Since the 1970s, CAMPEN Machinery A/S has helped producers in the nonwoven industry to achieve stable, high-quality outcomes using advanced stacked belt accumulator systems. Our engineered solutions are tailored for low-tension web handling, supporting sensitive and lightweight nonwoven materials. This approach delivers reliable production with reduced waste and consistent process control. The stacked belt accumulator is positioned before the winder, gently buffering meltblown, wetlaid, and spunbond webs. With a customer-focused approach, we ensure your production line performs reliably from the first day, maintaining product quality and protecting uptime.
The stacked belt accumulator is an essential part of modern nonwoven lines. It provides low-tension accumulation to minimise web breaks and fibre damage during roll changes or process interruptions. The design uses multiple soft belts arranged one above another, supporting the web over a wide surface and reducing the risk of marking or stretching. This is especially important for delicate nonwovens such as meltblown, wetlaid, and ultralight spunbond grades, where even small variations can impact final product quality.
During normal operation, the stacked belt accumulator forms controlled loops of the nonwoven web between each belt. Feedback systems, such as load cells or dancer arms, monitor and regulate web tension. This active control allows the accumulator to synchronise precisely with the winder, preventing tension spikes as rolls index, change diameter, or during splicing. Roll-to-roll handling becomes safer and web break prevention is improved throughout the production process.
This approach is suitable for webs below 10 g/m² as well as multi-layer laminates. Controls link with your main PLC, giving operators transparent diagnostics and quick access to settings for web and belt accumulator adjustments.
CAMPEN stacked belt accumulators are built for long-term, trouble-free service. We use robust steel frames to ensure precise alignment, even at high speeds and with heavy-duty use. Selectable high-efficiency drives maintain stable tension and reduce energy costs. Our easy-to-operate design includes clear access points, cleanable surfaces, and secure guarding for fast maintenance and improved operator safety.
Widths up to 5.0 m and line speeds over 300 m/min are supported. Each web accumulator is tested before delivery, and we offer start-up assistance and operator training to secure rapid commissioning and reliable day-to-day running.
CAMPEN designs every stacked belt accumulator and web handling system around your specific requirements. We assess your line layout, web properties, and safety needs before defining the right solution. This customer-driven process ensures a perfect fit for your plant and material grade—whether sensitive, lightweight, tacky, or composite webs.
Our engineering team helps you adapt as production needs change. Adjustments to control functions or hardware upgrades are managed for continued reliability. We support your operators and technical staff at every step—from commissioning through production and process changes.
